Heilsa and welcome to the Gjallarhorn Kindred Website.
If you have been searching the internet looking for an Asatru group to seek out, I am sure that by now you have seen quite a variety of groups, organizations and Kindred's. This is the blessing and the curse of the internet. To anyone new to Asatru this must seem like too much information to sort through, but it is well worth the effort. In fact, it is essential. It is up to the individual to learn as much as possible about the group that he/she wishes to come in contact with. Speaking from personal experience this simple act saves much in time and effort in the long run.
We must accept the fact that Asatru has grown to the point that it has all the problems and dissentions of our so called modern civilized society of today. In my own experience I have had to deal with racists, universalist, the mentally handicapped, the mentally deranged, criminals, drug addicts and new age "searchers". We are cast by some as an alternative religion, so we get a lot of strange people mixed in with the good and honorable Folk that we call family.
I can only say that like you I am a descendant of Ask and Embla and a son of Heimdall. I hold these facts to be sacred, and the essence of my very being. I do not hold myself above or below others because of this, It is just who I am. I am a father of three, a husband and a kindred leader. I find that in fulfilling the duties of; raising honorable Asamen, being a strong husband, and researching and reviving my faith for myself, my family and my Folk, that I have little time for political activism. I will, however, become very actively involved if all or any of the these responsibilities is threatened.
So what does all this mean? Simply that at Gjallarhorn Kindred we look for honorable men and women who hold their ancestors and heritage to be sacred, and who conduct their daily lives with the honor and high ideals of our Gods and Goddesses.
