Security
A "Wall" consists of a perimeter which
establishes a
boundary containing a
protected zone.

There are three Locations:
- Within the walls
- At the walls
- Beyond the walls
These three locations each have a different scope and nature, and therefore, each has it's own requirement for security.
1. Within the walls:
There are three times when you are "Within the walls". At these times, you should be aware and respond, but you are not functioning primarily in a security role, but rather primarily in some other role.
- When you are in your normal stead, and you are in conflict with no one.
- When you are in a kinsmen's stead, and you are in conflict with no one.
- When you are in the field with kinsmen setting a secure boundary around you.
When you are within the walls and an attack is mounted, support the walls.
2. At the walls:
There are three times when you are "at the walls". At these times, you are functioning in a primary security role, as a defender and observer.
- When you are standing a guard on a stead or field site.
- When you are securing a passage.
- When you are covering a flank.
When you are at the walls and are attacked, remain on the walls and defend those within.
3. Beyond the walls:
There are three times when you are "beyond the walls". At these times, you are acting in an offensive role.
- When you go beyond your walls to patrol, but stay on your land.
- When you go beyond your walls to meet an attacker.
- When you go beyond your lands to pillage or attack another.
When you are beyond the walls, do not allow the enemy to get between you and the walls.
